Tressie Seegers, LPC, ATR

With a deep passion for psychological wellness and personal growth, Tressie is a licensed clinical mental health counselor and registered art therapist who combines therapeutic expertise with a creative approach to healing. Drawing from evidence-based practices, mindfulness techniques and EMDR principles, she created the Meditation Journaling System to support clients in tapping into their own inner wisdom to find clarity, calm and guidance from within.

The Meditation Journaling System was born out of Tressie's desire to empower women to connect with themselves more deeply, using a powerful blend of contemplative guided meditations and journaling prompts and mindful art expressions that are inquiry-based. This system fosters clarity, emotional insight, and personal growth by encouraging self-reflection and contemplation.

A Note From Tressie:

In 2023, I walked an ancient pilgrimage, the Camino de Santiago's Portuguese Coastal Route, a life-changing journey that profoundly impacted me and my work. Letting go, radical acceptance, mindful self-compassion and intentional self-care were all essential parts of my pilgrimage and areas of concentrated growth. It's hard to put into words just how much my Camino meant to me. I wanted to stop many times, but each new day brought a renewed sense of resilience and determination to reach my goal, the Santiago de Compostela in Santiago, Spain.

When I first learned about the Camino, my curiosity was instantly piqued. The idea of walking such a long distance in a place so far from home felt impossible—yet the challenge called to me relentlessly. It sounded completely freeing, adventurous, exciting, kind of terrifying, and something I wasn't even sure I could actually do. I spent months training and preparing for the journey physically, mentally and spiritually.

The coast of Portugal and Spain is dotted with 12th and 13th century cathedrals that were breathtaking and inspiring. I was in awe of the architecture, the culture, the kind people, the coastal views and the overall general spirit of the Camino which I found to be supportive and encouraging. Humanity at its finest. On the Camino we're all trying to get to the end of our road safely and more enriched than when we started. The path was long and hard—yet also inspiring, exhilarating, exhausting, spectacular, deeply joyful and life-changing.

One of the big lessons I learned on the Camino was just how little one needs to survive, literally and figuratively. Letting go of things too heavy to carry both in our hearts and in our lives. I left many things on Camino that I no longer needed in my life. I thanked it, blessed it, and kept on walking with a lighter load.

Along the way I would have to say the skill that I practiced most was radical acceptance. On a trip like that there are many mishaps along the way including flight delays, lost luggage, inclement weather, illness, injury, etc.... Radically accepting what is and moving forward can bring peace  without further suffering by resisting what is by saying things like, "this shouldn't be happening," or "it shouldn't be this way." Sometimes things happen and things are that way. Any sense of control goes out the window and accepting what is and continuing on the path is the only way to reach the end.

To my great surprise I was able to finish the journey, 200 miles in 13 days. It was my Mt. Everest and the feeling reaching the end was of great accomplishment, happiness, joy and celebration. I hope to walk many more Caminos in my lifetime. My next goal is the Camino Frances, The French Way.

On A Personal Note:

I take time outside of work to do the things I love like gardening, spending time with friends, hiking, and camping alongside my partner and our two dogs. I deeply value family and cherish every opportunity to create meaningful experiences with my adult children.
My love for nature and animals extends to cat rescue. I facilitate TNVR (trap, neuter, vaccinate, return) for feral and stray cats in my community. I also work to find forever homes for friendly strays and kittens I find along the way.

Beyond my advocacy and outdoor adventures, I'm a passionate creator of art and music, using both as a means of self-expression, connection, and creativity. My artistic pursuits reflect my deep commitment to authenticity and fostering meaningful connections with the world around me.
